Optical Brightening For PVC

PVC is one of the most widely used plastics today. PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is hard and brittle without plasticizers. Various additives make it possible to vary the elasticity of the thermoplastic material. For example, PVC can be used for pipes, gutters, windows or casings, but also for garden hoses or floor coverings. PVC is an integral part of modern automotive engineering. It can be found, among other things, in truck tarpaulins, convertible rear windows or seat covers.

Not only the hardness of the plastic PVC can be easily changed, it also dyes well. Therefore, there is basically no PVC application in which optical brighteners cannot be used.

Plastisole is a dispersion of powdered thermoplastics and plasticizers. The most important representatives of this group are PVC plastisols, which are also known as soft PVC, hot-melt vinyl or other vinyl materials. We also find optical brighteners in almost all areas, where plastisols are used.

Plastisols are used as protective underbody panels in the automotive industry. In order to reduce the quantities added and to ensure optimum distribution of plastisols, optical brighteners are used as tracers.
